The first step in getting started with email marketing is to choose email marketing software through which you’ll begin building your list. There are many robust and cost-effective email marketing tools to choose from, so don’t get caught up trying to pick one that’s “perfect.” You can always switch providers down the line. Instead, pick a well-reviewed solution that fits your needs (e.g., pricing, drag-and-drop editors, email templates, etc.), then start emailing and making money.
Choose whether emails are sent as new messages to each recipient or as replies to your last conversation with each recipient. If you have no prior conversation with a recipient, the email will be sent as a new message. If you do have a prior conversation with the recipient, the email will be sent as a reply, and the Subject of your email campaign will be ignored, since the Subject of the last conversation will be used.

Email allows a business to connect with people that want to hear from you and have given you permission to connect with them via their inbox. Email marketing provides a direct connection with customers, sales prospects and business partners. Unlike social media platforms or various advertising strategies that function as more of a broadcast medium, email can be personalized and very targeted.
In your lead nurturing emails, it's important to call out why recipients are receiving the email. For example, you could say something like, "We noticed you're into [topic x] since you downloaded our [Topic X] ebook, and we thought you might want to learn more about [topic x] ..." In the example below, Duke Home Energy sends out a recurring email to its customers giving them an update on their home’s energy usage. Customers get information about their individual home and information on how they compare with homes around them. In addition, Duke provides them with additional content related to their efficiency level that customers can continue to engage with them on.
